Welcome back to Air Fryer Bro, the place where we get jiggy with all the latest information on air fryers 🙂 Today, we are looking at the best air fryer with a stainless steel basket and/or inside cooking compartment. These days, a lot of people are worried about the materials their new air fryers are made out of. For example, air fryers are notorious for the layer of non-stick coating peeling, so people want to find an air fryer that sidesteps this problem. Others are worried that this non-stick coating is toxic in some way. Having a stainless steel air fryer basket or cooking compartment solves both these problems.
Throughout this article, you can click on the recommended products image to be taken over to Amazon and view the appliance in detail yourself.
Because we get started, I do want to warn you about one potential downside of a stainless steel air fryer cooking area. If food is placed directly on the steel basket or rack, it will be much harder to clean off any burned on food. Be prepared for this, making sure you have a solid cleaning routine at hand 🙂
Buyer Beware!
Be careful if you are searching for your own stainless steel air fryer. Because, if you just search Google for the ‘best stainless steel air fryer’ the top results will be mostly showing air fryers that have a stainless steel exterior design. This is because air fryers with a stainless steel basket are few and far between, especially if you want a traditional bucket style air fryer. You can see a prime example below from Bed, Bath and Beyond.
If you are looking for air fryers with that stainless steel look on the outside rather than the inside, check out my other article all about the best stainless steel design air fryers.
Without further a do, these are our favourite air fryers with a stainless steel basket or cooking compartment:
Maxi-Matic EAF-05SS Electric Digital Hot Air Fryer
This MaxiMatic air fryer is literally the only one on the market that has a fully stainless steel cooking basket. The only air fryers with baskets are the traditional bucket style ones, and all others have some type of coating on theirs. This leaves the Maxi-Matic as the only choice if you would like a bucket style air fryer.
When you see other bucket air fryers with the word ‘stainless steel’ in their title, this is only talking about the stainless steel look used on the outside of the unit, so watch out for this 🙂
This model is a solid entry in the air fryer market, if not something that would blow you away. It has all the functionality you would expect from a modern air fryer, including the ability to broil, roast and make that crispy air fried food we love 🙂 However, it is rather small, at around 3.2 quarts in size. This would usually only suit a single person or possibly a couple at a stretch. If you have a large family, you would need to consider something else on this list. The design of this air fryer is also quite old-fashioned in air fryer terms. It seems it hasn’t been refreshed in a while by Maxi-Matic. Hopefully, they will get around to this soon 🙂
Cuisinart TOA-60 Convection Toaster Oven Airfryer
Unfortunately, that is the end of the traditional bucket style air fryers with stainless steel baskets, meaning there is a grand total of one! Thankfully, the recent edition of air fryer ovens has saved the day somewhat. These oven style air fryers often have stainless steel interiors and/ or baking tays/racks. Even if the racks or baking trays are non-stick, they are cheap and easy to replace with stainless steel ones. It’s a win-win for anyone wanting stainless steel in their air fryers!
As you can hopefully see from the image above, this air fryer oven is literally stainless steel on pretty much all of its surfaces. Flaking non-stick or toxic coatings are a thing of the past here. Not only is this good for health reasons, it also leads to a product that feels weighty and quality.
This air fryer is really a versatile offering, taking place of a grill, oven, and air fryer. It would have been nice to have a rotisserie function too, but it is still big enough to cook a chicken in all the same! In fact, at 18 quarts in size this air fryer oven would suit everyone but the biggest and most demanding families!
It is also nice buying from a well-known name such as Cuisinart, giving you much more confidence that you are dealing with a trustworthy company.
Galanz Digital Toaster Oven with Air Fry (GTH12A09S2EWAC18)
I have to say I have been impressed at the strides that Galanz have been making with their air fryers recently. They featured heavily in my recent air fryer microwave article, and here they are again with a pretty solid air fryer oven package.
This Galanz air fryer oven is, as with the Cuisinart above, made almost entirely of stainless steel and other metals. Personally, I think it looks amazing, especially when you consider the price. This Galanz model is one of the cheapest here among the other oven style air fryers featured today.
It isn’t perfect, for example having only three temperature settings for the air fryer function. However, I would put up with these small annoyances when you see what else you are getting for the price.
I think buying Panasonic’s microwave division has worked wonders for Galanz, as they have been coming out with some excellent small kitchen appliances ever since!
10-in-1 Air Fryer Oven Aifryer Toaster Oven Combo by Iconites
Iconites have come from practically nowhere to start putting out some excellent air fryer ovens. This model is no exception. Coming in at 20 quarts size, you are getting a decent size air fryer fit for most families. You are also getting a fully stainless steel interior with metal accessories. The only item with a coating is the drip tray, but food doesn’t come into contact with this anyway.
Another thing I really like about this Iconites air fryer is the space age design. For an unknown brand, they certainly know how to put out a good-looking air fryer!! The touch sensitive control panel adds to this, although this does have more likelihood of going wrong over time!
The range of accessories here is excellent too, with everything from a rotating basket to rotisserie forks included.
You may be worried about the unknown brand factor here, but I am more confident in the quality of this product after reading through many Amazon reviews for this product (there are over 200 right now). They almost have a perfect rating with a ridiculous amount of 5 star ratings thrown in. This is great to see from a new brand in air frying!
Ninja Foodi Digital Fry
This particular Ninja Foodi air fryer oven is so good I am going to make a slight exception! Yes, it does have one baking tray that has a non-stick coating, but all other accessories included are metal. The inside of the air fryer oven is also stainless steel, meaning you can just replace the baking tray with something else if it truly bothers you.
The reason I am willing to put up with this slight issue with the baking tray is because this Ninja Foodi is simply one of the best air fryer ovens out there. It is compact yet powerful, all wrapped up in a sleek looking package. Although this oven is slightly thinner than the others, it does fold up out of the way when not in use. This folding feature coupled with a removable back panel, makes this air fryer easy to clean too.
Even with over 2500 user reviews on Amazon, this model is still one of the top user rated air fryer ovens on there. You really can’t go far wrong with this air fryer oven, in my humble opinion. The only thing is it isn’t as big inside as some of the other air fryer ovens out there, so if you are feeding a massive family you might want to look elsewhere!
Thats all folks! I hope you now have more insight into the options you have for buying a stainless steel air fryer. If you are willing to go for an air fryer oven, the options are pretty good! If you have any of your own experiences with stainless steel air fryers we would love to hear all about them in the comments section below 🙂
Happy air frying!!
I loved my new air fryer, for exactly ONE MONTH. I went to put a group of tacos in, plugged it in and no power. NONE. It has a one yr warranty. So far, they have asked for numerous photos of the inside, outside, front, cut the cord off, take a photo. It took me forever to get the inside photos up on the top of the burner. I since have looked back and there were more people with problems. This was a well known brand from HSN.
Well I hope it doesn’t put you off air fryers for life! There are some good brands out there 🙂
The cuisinart has a non stick interior. It is not stainless steel inside.
What the flaky non-stick frying pan type of coating? 🙂
I agree! It’s silver inside but does not feel or look like stainless.
Finally someone writes a true article on stainless steel air fryers! I’d prefer an upright fryer with a stainless interior, and you’re the only person to state the facts… there’s only one model. Unfortunately, the Maxi is too small for my needs. My options are an oven model or ceramic interior, the Ninja AF 1000 series. Not sure about the latter as I’ve heard ceramic also releases chemicals. Wish there were more options.
